REGISTRATION, ELIGIBILITY & CERTIFICATES [Top] 1. A major and minor Rep Team may be selected from each age group to represent the Association in-group and O.M.H.A. play. Up to and including Midget they shall be designated Minor and Major Representative Teams within the context of this Constitution. Players playing with a Minor team must be the following ages as of January 1st of the playing season: Atom, 9 years; Pee Wee, 11 years; Bantam, 13 years; and Midget, 15 years. Major teams will consist of players who, as of January 1st of the playing season are: Novice, 8 years; Atom, 10 years; Pee Wee, 12 years; Bantam, 14 years; Midget, 16 and 17 years, and Juvenile under 18 years.
2. The Rep Team Convenor shall submit the names of all the team officials including Managers, Assistant Managers, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Trainers for each of the teams to the Board of Directors for approval. 3. The Rep teams may sign up to as many players’ cards as approved under the O.M.H.A. bylaws. The team may also it wishes, carry a spare goalkeeper, who shall play only in goal, bringing the total active team list to 17, However, provision is made for the signing of a maximum of 19 players to O.M.H.A. Player cards for the current season. When an 18th player is taken up to a Rep Team from the House League, one of the 17 regulars who qualifies under By-law No. 5 and has not played four or more games in Group or O.M.H.A. play must be returned to House League Team from whence the 18th player came. 4. (a) C.H.A. PLAYER CERTIFICATES MUST be completed by Rep Team players and MUST BE APPROVED before a player can participate in Group League play. No C.H.A. Player Certificates will be accepted by the appropriate Rep Team Convenor for approval after February 8, of the playing season. (b) All C.H.A. Player certificates are the property of the Association and shall be turned over to the appropriate Rep Team Convenor at the end of the playing season 5. Any person who decides to play Rep Team hockey must try out for the first team and must accept all conditions as laid down by the Rep Team. The player must play to the level of his/her ability as so decided by the First coach. The player cannot move to a lesser level unless approved by the First coach or approved by the Board of Directors. Approval will be subject to an appeal submitted in writing to the President before or during tryouts for the First team. Any such appeal must be accompanied by supporting documentation, which substantiates the appeal. The decision of the Board of Directors is final. 6. A player who leaves a Rep Team unapproved or on his/her own initiative must go to a House League team as designated by the House League Convenor. The Rep Team fee shall be refunded on a pro-rated basis according to the number of regular season scheduled games only if the Rep Team Convenor has been notified and all Association equipment loaned to the player has been returned. Any player moving to a Rep team after the start of the regular season schedule shall pay the Rep Team Fee on a prorated basis. After January 1st of the current hockey year, no refund of the Rep Team fee shall be made and all Association hockey equipment shall be returned.
7. (a) Any exchange of players between House League and Rep Teams must first be approved by the person(s) responsible for the Rep and House League programs. Such exchange must be reported to the President if they occur after November 1st of the current playing season. Such exchanges must have the approval of the President and be reported to the Board of Directors at their next meeting. (b) Any maximum 19 signed players may participate in Rep Team practices provided such practices do not conflict with games or practices of the additional entry teams (where applicable) or House League Team of which the player(s) may be a member and prior approval has been obtained from the “A” Rep Team Manager (where applicable) or House League Convenor. The “A” Rep Team (where applicable) or House League Team must be given preference. (c) The Representative Team and the Select Team (where applicable) may not play a signed player who is not on the active list, in a game without prior approval by both coaches involved or the House League Convenor (if applicable) and such player involved shall be listed on an approved affiliate roster list of the Rep Team involved. (d) The coordination of the communication associated with the affiliate player roster lists of a Division will be the responsibility of the Convener (s). (e) There is to be communication to all rep team head coaches and rep team managers, in a Division about players involved in the affiliated process. During the season, if any request or change to an affiliated player list is made by a Rep Team Manager, then the Convener is to communicate the request or change to the coaches that are involved in the change. Once the change is approved then communication to all rep team head coaches and manager, in the affected Division about the revised affiliated list will be the responsibility of the Convener of the requesting party. (f) The number of players on an affiliate player list will be no more than the amount determined by the governing bodies of the Association, but it can be less. (g) A player who has been placed on an approved affiliate roster list will be called up a minimum of 3 (three) times, which may include practices or games throughout the season. (h) Any affiliate player list may not be approved until the rostering of the lowest level of competition in the Rep Divisions.(i) No player shall be moved from any Division of the House League for the participation with the Rep Team Division without the knowledge of the Convenor of that Division. 8. No player may return from a Rep Team to a House League Team if he/she has played four or more games in Group or O.M.H.A. play as a Rep Team player after January 1st of the current season unless approved by the Board of Directors and such player is deleted from the Rep Team roster and C.H.A. player certificate to which he/she has signed. Exhibition games are not to be considered. If a player, who after signing a C.H.A. certificate to play Rep Team quits playing Rep Team and returns to the House League, he/she must remain with the House League Team for the remainder of the current season.
9. (a) Permission to play exhibition games involving Rep Teams with out-of-town teams must be approved by the Ice Scheduler. A copy of the travel permit shall be forwarded to the Association office before the game is played. (b) Participation in or cancellation of playing Tournaments by Rep Teams must have the approval of the person(s) responsible for the Ice Scheduling of the Association. If any Rep Team(s) goes beyond their Group League into O.M.H.A. Playdowns, other Rep Teams will make available their practice time as requested by the person(s) responsible for the Ice Scheduling of the Association. There are a maximum number of three (3) tournaments a Rep Team may participate in during a season. This does not include tournaments played before the season begins, during Christmas Holidays, or after the completion of Group League playoffs or OMHA Playdowns. There are a maximum number of three (3) tournaments that a Select Team may participate in during a season. This does not include tournaments played during Christmas Holidays. A tournament may not be scheduled during House League Playoffs. All tournament play must be completed prior to Team officials, who do not abide by the foregoing rule, will be dealt with by the person(s) responsible for the Rep program. Suspension or fines may be issued depending on the breech as deemed by the OMHA, Regional “AAA” Association, or “AA,” “A,” “Select” Association bylaws. (c) Rep teams shall apply to the person(s) responsible for the Ice Scheduling of the Association for permission to attend tournaments. The Ice Scheduler will be the person who grants permission and sign travel permits seven days prior to the team traveling, a copy of the permit shall then be forwarded to the Association office before the team leaves for the tournament.
10. The Rep Team Coach or Rep Team Manager in conjunction with the Convenor shall be responsible for making sure all equipment is returned to the Equipment Manager on the designated turn in day. With respect to the team, jersey’s one member of the coaching staff is to be responsible for getting the teams jersey’s to and from games. 11. A player who leaves a Rep Team unapproved or on his/her own initiative must return all Association equipment loaned to the player. Once the player is assigned to a House League teams as designated by the House League Convenor the loan of Association equipment will be coordinated through the House League Convenor.
12. (a) In the event the Association applies and is accepted as a Regional Centre "AAA" zone, the "AAA" teams would continue to operate under the constitution of the Association, and in addition also be governed by all the rules and regulations which apply to zone hockey as outlined by the O.M.H.A. (b) “AAA” Rep Teams that are considering zoned regional or waivered players will be limited to a maximum of five (5) players.. Updated on March 5th, 2007 |
